The size of man's chest is a mark of his manhood and pride. It is where soldiers display their medals, and police officers put their badge. The chest muscles, also called pectorals or pecs, is the most prominent part of the human anatomy and requires a chest workout to match.
The pectorals are composed of two muscle groups: The pectoral major and the pectoral minor. Both muscles sit in front of the upper ribcage. The pectoral major is the larger of the two and makes up the vast part of the chest. Beneath it lies the pectoral minor, which is thin and triangular in shape. Pectorals are responsible for movements associated with the shoulder such as lifting, pushing, pulling, and rotating the arm. As such, a major factor in how effective you are in such activities is contingent on doing chest exercises . It also follows that the pecs are a major point of sex appeal.
The best chest workouts require more then just repetitive lifting. Effective exercise first requires a solid grasp of the human anatomy. You have to understand the way your body works if you want it to grow in a certain way. This doesn't mean you have to have a degree in biology -- just that you take the time to educate yourself on the needs of your body in order to grow muscle. Many people approach lifting with a no holds barred mentality -- a mistake. Did you know that how much you rest has as much or more of an effect on muscle growth as actually working out? Most people do not and suffer as a result. Also, it is not enough to simply do one workout that targets the chest. Over time, the body will adapts to the specific level of trauma inflicted by a particular exercise so you must change up your routine.
Your workout must be diverse and be executed with proper form and technique. A careless, uninformed chest workout routine will inevitably lead to unsatisfactory results or even worse -- injury. A properly developed workout will produce better and faster muscle growth.
